It's not just the greeting card industry and florists, but everything around us that feeds off this desire. We dress, diet, read, watch tv and it's all about love. There's reality tv, online dating and introductory services costing over £10000 which have all tapped into this little thing called love. Have we overcomplicated our lives? I was watching this show called Millionaire Matchmaker. Patti Stanger has a successful business and it's all around that all important thing of finding love. Sex and the City was about a woman trying to find love. The hit comedy Friends, had Ross and Rachel's will they won't they love affair to keep it going for many years. Some of the greatest books written - Gone with the Wind, Anne of Green Gables, Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice - they're all about love. Let's not forget the teenage phenomenon of Twilight.
Pubs and bars thrive on it - as it's the place to go to find love. We grow up with fairy tales which are about finding the one. Does it make us unrealistic? Is it just about finding someone you can put up with, especially when you are 75 years old and cranky?
