Cooking Substitutes

Here are some healthy substitutes to use when you are cooking so you can eat right but still enjoy good food:
  • Fresh mushrooms from a French Sunday market
    mushrooms for meat (try the different varieties)
  • apple juice for sugar
  • dates / prunes for chocolate
  • lime or lemon juice for salad dressing
  • pesto for pasta sauce
  • home-made salsa for sauce or gravy
  • squid for noodles (great if you are on no carbs)
