Why The People We Let Into Our Lives Matters - Health, Beauty and Happiness

Life is about connecting with others and who we let in to help create our happy healthy lives.

When we meet new people, we form first impressions. Their physical appearance might not sit within societal views on beauty, but they may come across as warm, kind and open minded. It is their inner beauty we are assessing.

We then have a series of interactions with them that might change our views. If they are not respectful to us in the way they behave, no matter what the reason, we no longer see them as beautiful.

Whilst we might forgive and forget with friends who we have a long history, a new acquaintance does not afford such flexibility.

Ultimately we have only a certain amount of time, energy and head space. We can start to see signs of toxicity the more we get to know some people. It becomes apparent this is a pattern for them. They aren't aware of it within themselves. In fact, their opinion of themselves is they are completely without blame.

This might be why the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard defamation case is intoxicating. We see it from the outside. Are we trying to learn from it?

It's the cautionary tale to all of us how our fragile lives can become derailed by someone. How drugs, alcohol, money, love and success can all go terribly wrong.

Over time, some people become less prominent in our lives. They say to surround ourselves with the people who lift us up. The reality is that no one is perfect. Every relationship we have is full of ups and downs. It's when the downs become so intense and prolonged, we have to turn away, try to rebalance and find what works best for us.

Relationships - love, friendship, work and family are all messy, but we need them if we want to be happy and healthy.
